Who heads the Family?

In these days were women are in charge of every thing including paying fees and feeding the home, who heads the family in this 21st Century

Anybody with ability heads the family and not necessarily men as tradition has it because we are in a 21st century.

The husband heads the family. 
It's only when he is not  around that the wife  takes control of heading  it.
With the absence of the mother , then the first  child in the family takes control of the home till the  parents  are back.

Somehow i feel the one who takes on responsibilitie s in the family should be the head. if it is the woman then she should be the head

The man of course ,heads the family.But some men gave up on this long time ago ,it is either women or children who head families nowadays.
